FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator do I use to work out how much margin a gold trade needs?

Use the margin calculator. For gold, 1 standard lot is 100 oz and one pip is 0.01. As a worked reference, at 1:200 leverage via the offshore entity a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 margin. Treat leverage as a cap, not a target, and check the rate your own account is actually set to.

How do I know what one pip is worth on my gold position?

The pip value calculator answers that. For XAU/USD one pip is 0.01, and with 1 standard lot equal to 100 oz a 1.00-lot position moves $1 per pip. Your own figure scales with lot size, so enter your exact lots rather than assuming the standard contract value.

Can I see the profit or loss before I place the trade?

Yes, the profit calculator does that. Enter your entry, exit and lot size and it returns the result in dollars, which you can then read against the naira. It is a planning tool only: it cannot account for the spread, commission or swap your broker charges, so the live result will differ.

What is the position size calculator for if I already know my lots?

It works the other way round: you give it your account balance and the percentage you are willing to risk, plus your stop distance, and it returns a lot size that fits. That is useful because gold moves fast in dollar terms, and choosing lots by feel is how accounts get oversized.

Do the pivot point tools tell me where gold will go?

No, pivot points are levels calculated from previous price data, not forecasts. The pivot point tool gives you reference levels that some traders use to frame support and resistance. They can be wrong, and price can ignore them entirely, so use them alongside your own risk limits rather than as a signal.
