What the number means

This is the spot price of gold (XAU/USD) — the global benchmark. Your broker's price sits a few units either side because of the spread. Use it to size a trade or check margin.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the live gold price on this page come from?

It is a reference XAU/USD quote drawn from market data feeds, shown around a reference level of 4275.0 for context. It is not your broker's executable price. The price you can actually trade is the bid or ask on your own platform, which includes that broker's markup.

Why is my broker showing a different gold price from this one?

A broker quotes a bid and an ask, and the gap between them is the spread you pay to enter. A reference feed shows a single mid figure, usually without that markup. Timing differences between feeds also matter, so a few cents of difference is expected rather than a fault.

Can I trade directly from the live price shown here?

No. This page is informational only and does not connect to any trading account. To trade you need an account with a broker such as FxPro, which publishes support for MT4, MT5, cTrader and FxPro Edge, and you execute at that platform's price, not at the figure here.

Does the live price update when the gold market is closed?

It depends on the feed. Gold trades roughly from Sunday evening to Friday evening in Nigerian time, and outside those hours the last quote may simply hold or freeze. A flat price at the weekend is a closed market, not a real move, so do not read it as a signal.

How do I turn the live price into a naira figure?

Multiply the dollar gold price by the USD/NGN rate you are quoted, remembering that one lot is 100 oz. For a 0.10-lot position, take the price change in dollars, multiply by 10 oz, then convert. The pip value and profit calculators do this arithmetic for you.
